stillness into light

I started out in London, with music, painting, photography, and film making for Television and Cinema.

Photography has been a continuous daily activity. Here is a favorite quote from photographer Saul Leiter :

'I don’t have a philosophy. I have a camera. I look into the camera and take pictures. My photographs are the tiniest part of what I see that could be photographed. They are fragments of endless possibilities.'

For 25 years I have photographed the events, construction and development of a Buddhist center in Southern France. The photos are used in magazines, editorials, publicity and websites.

Some of my photos are on walls as framed prints.

Having exhibitions was never a goal. I avoided commercial photography. No fashion, no pack shots, no travel. No restrictions.

I live in Southern France with my wife where we maintain a health care practice for related alternative therapies; osteopathy, Rolfing, ayurveda therapies, psychotherapies, massage.

I am inspired by the life of William Carlos Williams because he was a lifelong artist as well as a New Jersey family doctor for over forty years.

Enjoy the photos,

Barry Beckett

Photographs are available as Giclée art prints on Hahnemühle paper, on request.
